Newsletter

The Lex Loci is a bi-monthly publication, mailed to members of the Northern Kentucky Bar Association. This publication can also be found on our website under the menu option "Newsletters".   It provides substantive legal based articles, informs members of news in the organizations, ongoing activities, upcoming events, and reports of development in the law.  The classified section is reasonably prices and reaches a highly targeted audience.

Committees and Sections

Members may join any of over 20 sections and committees which concentrate in specific areas of practice.  It is a great opportunity to stay informed about legal developments while meeting attorneys and members of the judiciary who share an interest in those specific areas of the law.  Many sections initiate and recommend legislation and court procedures designed to improve the justice system and help lawyers in their practice.

Legal Directory

NKBA annually publishes a pictorial directory of all attorneys practicing in Northern Kentucky and those Cincinnati attorneys who are members of NKBA.  The directory includes the addresses and telephone numbers of the state and federal judges and other court personnel in Northern Kentucky as well as county government officials.  The local rules adopted for arbitration are also printed in the directory.

*The pictorial legal directory is an essential reference.  It is found in almost every office and courthouse in Northern Kentucky.

Mailing Lists and Labels

Another service for members is the preparation of mailing lists or mailing labels.  This is the easiest, and most accurate, way to prepare a mass mailing to the local bar. It is against association policy to provide email lists. There is a fee to order mailing lists.

Social Functions

The NKBA has many social activities throughout the year.  The Holiday Dinner Dance in December and the summer golf outing are but a few of the events that allow members to develop and enhance friendships with their fellow attorneys.

Discounts

Local merchants provide discounts for products and services, many in the area of professionally needed items.  Members are notified of newly added stores and provided with the required identification.  The list of participating merchants and services is growing.

Lawyer Referral Service

The NKBA refers qualified lawyers to local residents who need assistance in choosing counsel.

Northern Kentucky Volunteer Lawyers (NKVL) is a cooperative program between the NKBA and the Legal Aid Society.  Three times as many Pro Bono cases are handled by the Volunteer Lawyers because of an IOLTA (Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts) Grant applied for and received by the NKBA.
